Whitney Pier Memorial Jr High School

Whitney Pier Memorial JR. High School was opened in 1977 for grades 7-9.  The Principal for the last 11 years has been Ken Graham.  He will be retiring in 2010.  Art MacDonald has been the Vice Principal since 2004.  The Guidance Councilor for coming September 2009 will be Marsha MacLean.

The school has 35 teachers and 15 teacher aides and 7 support staff.  There are around 500 students enrolled every year.  At Whitney Pier Memorial Junior High "Home of the MUSTANGS", they provide a positive environment that supports adolescent growth and socialization to help meet the challenges of the Junior High Program.  They offer the students a wide range of experiences to meet their diverse learning needs.  The school every year generously hosts the visual art exhibition for "PierScape" arts festival.  They give up their gym for a week to accommodate this event but feel that the educational experience is well worth it.
